So i've been running the same little test on the latest Sonnet, Opus, Astra and Fable models. The prompt isn't the typical pelican bicycle test, but basically I asked these models to make a svg of a lighthouse on a rocky headland at night, moonlit sea, sweeping beam, stars where it looks beautiful, not clip-art. it's all code, no image generation involved. The model writes the svg and renders it. All of these models were on MAX reasoning.
Pic 1 is all of them compared side by side - Sonnet 5, Opus 5, Astra 6, Fable 5.1 from two days ago, as well as Fable 5.1 today.
Listen, i'm not exactly a painter, but look at the last one (on pic 1) compared to the others. It feels like it's on a whole other level. That's the one Fable 5.1 made today.
It is noticeably different from how Fable 5.1 made it just days ago. the consistency in depth, the quality, the decisions it made in how certain effects were done such as the lighting, the moon's shine, the ripples in the ocean, the sky... it was able to do all of that on its own. Not to mention how it did it compared to the other models. Before today, I wouldnt have thought that any of them were presentable as each of them had aspects that were off putting. GPT Astra 6 was my favorite overall before I made the Fable one today despite its slight imperfections. Because overall it was consistently the best. The only real concerns with Astra's work were with the lighthouse and the cottage because they looked unnatural and disconnected against the ground. It also lacked the kind of lighting the Claude models tried to incorporate. But Fable 5.1 today made the best version in terms of . The new one isn't perfect, the cliff is a bit soft. But the fact that it's better than Astra's is incredible.
