About a month ago I posted this project here. It adds ChatGPT Web models directly to Codex’s normal model picker.
Until now, Pro could receive the full accumulated Codex context, but it could only act as a planner or reviewer. It could not call the active task’s tools via MCP.
That now works.
A few days ago, ChatGPT Pro gained support for invoking custom MCP connectors. I connected it to the existing local Codex bridge and tested the full loop.
ChatGPT Web Pro inside Codex can now:

run shell commands

inspect images

use configured MCP apps

return real tool results inside the same turn
Powered by all Codex harness.
You just select ChatGPT Web — Pro in Codex’s normal model picker.
Codex keeps the current task, history, accumulated context, compaction, approvals, sandbox and normal tool UI. MCP connects Pro directly to the active Codex task and its tools.
I’ve seen a lot of people using Pro for development through the GitHub connector. That gives Pro access to a repository, but not to the live Codex task, compiled context, shell, approvals and the rest of the harness.
This update turns Pro from a context-aware planner or reviewer into a model that can actively work inside Codex.
